But now you must also rid yourselves of all such things as these: anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from your lips. …Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering; Forbearing one another , and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any; even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye. Colossians 3:8,12,13
We are a vessel for God to use. If we are full of anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language, we probably are not going to be very useful for the Lord’s work. We need to think carefully about our words and actions, as we are Ambassadors for the Lord, representing Him to a world that needs a Savior.
How much more can we show God to the world through our actions, if we are kind, humble, meek, patient, merciful, and forgiving?
These actions are gifts from God. The Holy Spirit gives us this fruit, so that we can feed the world with it.
Galatians 5:21-23 King James Version (KJV) says:
21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
In Matthew 15, Jesus says:11 Not that which goeth into the mouth defileth a man; but that which cometh out of the mouth, this defileth a man.
Lord, I pray for these spiritual gifts so that I can be a light in this world. Keep me from temptation, deliver me from evil. Help my words to be wholesome and pure, that others can taste and see that You are good! Thank You!
