Let there Be Light!!!

And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. and the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. And God said, Let there be light: and there was light. Genesis 1:2,3

The first verse in Genesis tells us that God created the heaven and the earth.

In the second verse, we see that there is darkness, voids, and no real form to the earth.

We are able to look at pictures of planets out in space, we can understand what the earth might have looked like. Maybe Mars, or Pluto, or Jupiter?

Can you imagine the earth, just a dark, formless sphere? Deep dark space surrounded it, and then as the Spirit of God moved over it, God spoke, “Let there be light!”

The command was obeyed, and immediately there was light!

Light is an amazing thing. Scientists have tried to figure it out. Unlike sound, it can travel through vacuums of space. It doesn’t need to be carried along on molecules. It travels magnificently fast. The best theories have been that packets of energy carry it along, and that it is made of waves and particles of magnetism and electricity.

Those wave patterns, along with frequency help us to see the colors of light, from red to violet, the colors of the rainbow. The study of light is really interesting. It is an intelligent, interesting, beautiful creation.

When God shone His light on me, I was empty, and there were so many voids in my life, and darkness too. I felt the magnetism and electricity of the light and salvation of Jesus Christ. I was attracted to that light that shone through to my own soul, and colored my world! Jesus is a light to my path and a lamp for my feet!

Thank You, God, for Your beautiful, intelligent design of the earth, the heavens, and light! Thank You that You create light in dark places, and in the souls of people who feel empty. Keep filling me with Your beautiful light, and let it shine for others to see. Amen!
