And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness. And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day. Genesis 1:4,5
God made a division between the light and the darkness. He gave the light part of the division a name — ‘Day’. The darkness He called, ‘Night’.
That first grouping of light and darkness were the first day!
What an amazing day too!!! The beginning of the creation of this world must have been stunning! I sometimes wonder what prompted God to create the earth?
His creation is wonderful! I have enjoyed the day and night that He created.
The day is meant for living! I love to wake up and see the light of day! I pet the dogs, get the paper, start the coffee, and read my devotions.
In the evening, I love to see the first star appear, and watch the rising of the moon. Since we live in the mountains, I have to wait for it to clear the trees, before I can appreciate its light in the night sky. Then I love to sleep, so that I can wake refreshed for the new morning.
Day and Night, the first day, again—truly a marvelous work of God!
Oh God, How amazing and wonderful You are! Thank You for creating such wonders as light, and for creating the ‘day’. You create newness, and can create beauty out of nothing. I acknowledge You! You are worthy of praise and glory! Thank You!
