Day Six:

Genesis 1:24-31

And God said, Let the earth bring forth the living creature after his kind, cattle, and creeping thing, and beast of the earth after his kind: and it was so. And God made the beast of the earth after his kind, and cattle after their kind, and every thing that creepeth upon the earth after his kind: and God saw that it was good. And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and feamale created he them. And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth. And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat. And to every beast of the earth and to every fowl of the air, and to every thing that creepeth upon the earth, wherein there is life, I have given every green herb for meat: and it was so. And God saw every thing that he had made, and behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day.

Man and animals were made on day six.

I cannot scientifically explain creation, but we have the earth’s elements in our bodies — magnesium, zinc, calcium, iron, aluminum, and more. In this article, Michelle Sawyers Harris describes human beings as walking and talking ‘claymations’.

God created us different from the animals, in that we were to have the duty of caretakers and rulers of the earth and rulers of the animals. We were created with a job and with responsibility, and more than that, we were created in the image of God.

The creation of the human being is so amazing! Our eyes, ears, and brain, took great thought to design. I cannot believe that we were a blob that came miraculously together, or that we descended from something else, because we are uniquely designed with purpose.

God gave us the ability to think and act freely and independently. We can see this in our children. We can raise them up, hoping they will magnify our intentions, but they become their own person. Our children have their own blood type, sometimes different from their parents. They are unique in their fingerprints and talents. Amazing!!!!

The animals were created on the same day. They are unique and amazing in their abilities and defenses. I love the defenses that God gave animals. The porcupine with quills, the skunk with stench, and the chameleon with camouflage. I think of the predators, like lions, bears, and wolves. Each created with designs specific and unique to them.

Then, they have the ability to re-create through reproduction. God had it all figured out, designing everything so that it would work together.

I only know how God’s fingerprints are all over His creation. I cannot imagine someone not believing in the great Creator. No wonder in the book of Romans, we see the effects of the foolishness of people who choose to discount God’s creation:

For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse: Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, And changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things. Wherefore god also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves: Who changed the truth of God into a lie and worshiped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen. Romans 1:20-25

If you finish reading this chapter in Romans, you can see the results of a world that is ungrateful to God.

We need to teach creation to our children. It is not a world designed haphazardly, but a beautiful and intelligent design of a loving God.

Dear God, what a wonderful world You’ve created. I cannot fathom the way You designed all things to work together, from the smallest microscopic thing to the most enormous creatures You’ve created. Even the unseen things have been designed by You. You are the magnificent Creator! All glory and honor and praise is due You! Thank You!
