Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. , to an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you. 1 Peter 1:3,4
These are good words of great encouragement!
We are born again with a ‘lively hope’ because of the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. We look forward to that inheritance from God, that cannot be taken away. It is not an earthly inheritance, but a heavenly one.
If you’ve watched the movie, ‘The Little Princess’ with Shirley Temple, you probably remember the story line?
A young girl finds herself in a girl’s school in England, as her father goes away to fight in a war.
Soon, the payments for the school stop coming, and her father is presumed dead or missing. The pretty little girl ends up a servant at the school, instead of a student, in order to pay for her room and board.
She is put in a cold room, and has barely enough food to eat.
A rich man from India lives in the building across from the school. He sees the girl through his upstairs window.
One day she wakes up to find all kinds of food and warm blankets, –a gift from the man.
The cruel schoolmaster finds out about the gifts, and is determined to take everything away from the girl.
The thought of her father returning, motivates her not to lose hope.
Desperately, she looks for her father, when a group of injured men pass through the veteran’s home. She finds her father!
In the end, everything turns out right for a happy ending.
This life is full of a lot of turmoil and sorrow, but things will work out right in the end. As Christians, we are promised an inheritance that is incorruptible, undefiled, and fadeth not away.
Jesus is preparing us a place so wonderful we cannot even imagine!
Take courage, and carry on, persevere for the Lord. Again, our work is not in vain!
We will be with our heavenly Father, soon, and we will not remember the sorrows, or the labor, or the pain we experienced on earth, as we enjoy wonderful heavenly blessings in the presence of the Lord.
I am so glad that You have a purpose and plan for each one of us, Lord. You are so wonderful! Thank You for taking away my sins, for setting me free from those chains of bondage, and for preparing a place for me to be with You someday! Help me to stand firm, to not be deceived, and to present the gospel in truth and love while there is time. In Your Name, Amen.
