Wives, submit yourselves to your husband as is fitting in the Lord. Husbands, love your wives and do not be harsh with them. Children, obey your parents in everything, for this pleases the Lord. Colossians 3:18-20
Christ gives us the love to accomplish the above tasks.
How hard it is to submit to authority, but what about loving authority? If a husband loves his wife and is not harsh with her, maybe it would be easier to submit to his authority?
For children, if they are shown God’s love, in the model of a parent’s love, maybe they could obey their parents more easily.
Submission is not easy! It somehow lessens freedom. However, if freedom is in Christ, we are no longer slaves. But there is a law of love. As Christians, that law is to love God, and love others as ourselves.
Love is the freedom one needs to be submissive and obedient.
If the leadership in the home allows for freedom in Christ, it possibly may be a very happy home.
Dear Lord, as Christmas approaches, fill our hearts with Your love. Help families to mend by allowing Your love to penetrate our homes and hearts. Thank You, Jesus, for what You did, that beautiful act of sacrificial love. Help us to love as You loved! In Your Name, Amen.
