Put off the Old Man:

Ephesians 4:22-24

That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts;

And be renewed in the spirit of your mind;

And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.

We know that it is not human nature to be meek, gentle, forgiving, loving, and kind. These are virtues that are God-given, not man-made.

We need a new birth, and the old man has to be ‘put off’.  Former ways need to be ‘put to death’, so that we can be alive in Christ, and in the Spirit of God.

All those former things that are contrary to God’s ways have no room in this new vessel.

Galatians 5:21-23

Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,

Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

Let us live in the Spirit, and be filled with the abundant fruit he gives us, as God is renewing our hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

Dear God, give us a right Spirit in us, and help us to grow in wisdom and knowledge of You. Create righteousness and holiness in me. I pray for Your good and perfect will to be done. In Jesus’s Name, Amen.
