Trust, Delight, Commit, Rest:

My mom’s favorite Psalm in the later part of her life was Psalm 37.

Psalm 37 starts like this:

Fret not thyself because of evildoers, neither be thou envious against the workers of iniquity.

² For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, and wither as the green herb.

³ Trust in the Lord, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed.

⁴ Delight thyself also in the Lord: and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.

⁵ Commit thy way unto the Lord; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.

⁶ And he shall bring forth thy righteousness as the light, and thy judgment as the noonday.

⁷ Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass.

⁸ Cease from anger, and forsake wrath: fret not thyself in any wise to do evil.

⁹ For evildoers shall be cut off: but those that wait upon the Lord, they shall inherit the earth.

¹⁰ For yet a little while, and the wicked shall not be: yea, thou shalt diligently consider his place, and it shall not be.

¹¹ But the meek shall inherit the earth; and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace.

When we see evil people prospering, and getting the upper hand in life, and into positions of leadership, walking over Godly people, don’t worry, their time is short.

Trust in the Lord, Delight yourself in the Lord, Commit your ways unto the Lord, and He will make your righteousness shine.

Wait Patiently, resting in the Lord, not worrying over wicked people who are prospering.

Stop being angry, put away your wrath, don’t plot evil because of your worrying. The evildoers will be cut off. For the ones who wait on the Lord, they will inherit the earth.

If we wait a while, there will not be any wicked people, they will not have a place.

Instead, the meek shall inherit the earth, and delight in the abundance of peace.

I see the words ‘Don’t Worry, Be Happy!” all over this Psalm. When everything seems to be going wrong for God’s people, don’t worry, it will be okay. God will make it right. He already has.

Evil will not last forever, but righteousness will, and God’s Words will last forever.

We are not to worry about things. We are not to be angry. We are not to plot evil..

We are to trust, delight, commit, wait, and rest in the Lord.

This is good advice for the bad days!

Dear God, I thank You for the Psalms. They bring so much comfort and hope. It is good advice to trust You to take care of all the evil in the world. Our job is to delight in You, rest in You, commit our ways to You, and trust You. I pray for workers for the harvest. There are many in need of salvation. Keep us from sin, evil, and deceit. I pray for Your will to be done. Please direct all my paths. In the wonderful name of Jesus, Amen.
