Romans 12:19-21 New International Version (NIV)
19 Do not take revenge, my dear friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written: “It is mine to avenge; I will repay,” says the Lord. 20 On the contrary:
“If your enemy is hungry, feed him;
if he is thirsty, give him something to drink.
In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head.”
21 Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.
I read a wonderful devotional today. You can read it by following the link below:
The title is, “Are You Thirsty“, written by Billy Graham’s daughter, Anne Graham Lotz.
The picture was the crux of the story:
A boy in Baltimore was handing out water, in an act of kindness and generosity, after the looting and violence that had taken place. The photo came from Bishop M. Cromartie, Prophetic Deliverance Ministries senior pastor. He had it posted on his Facebook page, and it went viral.
The picture speaks volumes.
Anne Graham had this to say in her devotional:
This Baltimore boy is a beautiful example that we, as God’s children, need to follow.
In a world filled with anger, violence, chaos, and confusion, give someone The Living Water. In a world of death, give Life. In a world of darkness, give Light. In a world of despair, give Hope. In a world of lies, give Truth.
Give them Jesus. Today.
The verse she used was from the book of John:
Jesus said, Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give him will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life. John 4:13-14
The heart of a child has great wisdom. This boy is a genius! May God richly bless him!
Dear God, I am amazed when I see the good of a person in the midst of the chaos. It is a challenge to do the right thing, when those who surround us have chosen evil ways. A kind word turns away wrath, and kind actions seem to extinguish the flames of anger. I pray for my Christian brothers and sisters to leave room for Your wrath, and to seek out Your wisdom in how to act in these days. You are willing to give us the answers, if we truly look for them. Thank You! In the name of Jesus, Amen.
