We Can’t Take Anything With Us:

Psalm 49:20

People who have wealth but lack understanding
are like the beasts that perish.

This Psalm is all about wealth, and how it cannot redeem a brother, or give to God a ransom for him. Verse 8 says, (for the redemption of their soul is precious, and it ceaseth for ever:)

I love verse 15, But God will redeem my soul from the power of the grave: fro he shall receive me.

And verse 17: For when he dieth he shall carry nothing away: his glory shall not descend after him.

I had a beautiful friend, an older Christian woman who has passed away, and her saying was, “Only one life, will soon be past, only what’s done for Christ will last.”

Dear God, help us to remember to store up treasure that will last, the things done for Your Kingdom. In the name of Jesus, Amen.

    • Often, I lose my focus. To remember that our bodies are mortal, and our souls are eternal puts a lot of things into perspective. Thank you, Steve, for your comment. Have a blessed day!

      • Christians have a dual nature within our physical bodies…one of sinful desires, and one of Godly nature.

This sets up the struggle between the two for control. God could have made us follow His ways, but He wants that to be our choice.

And so we decide which “nature” wins out. The old saying is true…

“Of the two lions, the one we feed is the one which will grow!”

    • The older I get, the faster time goes, and it reminds me that this life is short compared to eternity. Thanks Betty! Have a wonderful day!
