I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep. John 10:11
Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Deuteronomy 31:6
Today, I saw a really good Christian movie, called ‘Christian Mingle”. It was kind of a love story about a young woman who wanted more than just a passing relationship.
She had a desire for real commitment, and although she wasn’t a born again believer, she found a Christian dating website. When she saw a man who looked kind, happy, and secure with his life, she was ‘smitten’.
The man eventually finds out that she has a faith that is at the surface only. It doesn’t run deep through her veins and into her heart. He tells her he cannot date her.
Through this man’s Christian example, while she was dating him, she searches out Jesus, to make Him her Savior. She embraces the journey to look for Him, and attends a church she can relate to. She becomes interested in helping others, and living out a vibrant faith.
I won’t ruin the ending, in case you haven’t seen the movie, but there are so many people out in the world who are so lonely.
They are looking for a relationship that is more than just a passing friendship.
Jesus is the One who is closer than a brother, a help in times of trouble, and God says that He will never leave you nor forsake you. Put your trust in Him, and embrace the wonderful journey you will have with Him.
I loved the scenarios of how people came to faith in the movie. The goal of being a Christian is to eventually be with Christ, the love of our life!. It will be the happy union of sinner to Savior!
Dear God, You are the relationship that is missing from many people’s lives. You are the attraction that is so desirable for all of us who have sinned and need redemption and renewal. Thank You for Your great love that changed me, and made me whole. I am so grateful to You. I pray that others who are looking for You will find You. Please send workers for the harvest. In the name of Jesus, Amen.
