Do not be misled: “Bad company corrupts good character.” 1 Corinthians 15:33
Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness? 2 Cor. 6:14
My prayer is not that you take them out of the world but that you protect them from the evil one. John 17:15
What do we do when we are Christians who have to live in this world, work in this world, and raise our families in this world?
We are so fortunate that Jesus already prayed for us, and He knows what it is like to live in this world, with all the ‘bad company that corrupts good character”. Jesus prayed that we wouldn’t be taken out of the world, but that God would protect us from the evil one.
There are many religious people who will keep away from anyone of bad reputation, and that is one way of staying close to God, but then how do we make a difference in the lives of others, and how do we help sinners find their way to Christ?
We need that prayer that Jesus prayed for us, the one that will protect us from the evil one. We need Christian brothers and sisters to keep us accountable to the Lord, we need to stay in God’s word, and we need to put on the armor of God daily!
It is not easy to live in this world, especially when we are grieved by the evil that we witness.
There are many wolves in sheep’s clothing, and we need to be wise as serpents, but gentle as doves.
Dear God, Protect us from the evil one. In the name of Jesus, Amen.
