Guard Against Greed:

Then he said to them, “Watch out! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; life does not consist in an abundance of possessions.” Luke 12:15

Jesus gave this strong warning. He tells us to ‘Watch Out!’ –Guard ourselves from greed. Abundance of possessions is not what life consists of.

Greed has caused the fall of many people and nations.

The opposite of greed is ‘giving’.

Then Jesus beholding him loved him, and said unto him, One thing thou lackest: go thy way, sell whatsoever thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, take up the cross, and follow me. Mark 10:21

Our physical bodies need food, water, and clothing. God will provide all these things for us, because we know He clothes the grass of the field with wildflowers, and he feeds the birds of the air, and He has generously given this planet an abundance of water.

It is our spiritual body that we need to acquire the proper things for– the everlasting things for. We should be rich in faith, love, charity, brotherly kindness, joy, goodness, mercy, and all the things that make both lives better.

Hearken, my beloved brethren, Hath not God chosen the poor of this world rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom which he hath promised to them that love him? James 2:5

With the Lord, we are rich and satisfied. We lack nothing!

Dear God, You are generous with all the gifts you have given us. Thank You! Help us to be content with what we have, and to seek out everlasting treasure. Guard our hearts and minds in You. In the Precious Name of Jesus, Amen.
