Anemic Christianity:

Strength

Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9

I urge you to read the devotional by Billy Graham for today. It is something that has been on my heart. http://billygraham.org/devotion/courage-to-stand/ (Courage to Stand)

The front page of the local newspaper caught my eye at work yesterday. A front page story was about ‘Diversity in the Park’. I was saddened by the picture and the news. Two gay men, and ‘their little girl’ were sitting in the grass, enjoying a ‘Pride in the Park’ rally. This story pierced my heart.

Not long ago, the article would have read, “Perversity in the Park”, and the little girl would have been taken away from this disturbed ‘couple’. Does it not break the heart of Christians everywhere to see the condition our country is in?

In 1996, I was bleeding internally. I almost died. I didn’t know that I had a ruptured organ. The outward signs were paleness. The other signs were great fatigue, depression, weakness, and feeling ill. I was severely anemic and weak. I had no strength. I was in a perilous condition. Without proper and immediate medical treatment, I would have died.

Billy Graham says that many professing Christians are living out an anemic, weak, Christian faith. An ‘anemic’ faith is one that is in danger of dying.

God is our strength, and we need vibrant Christianity today. Pastors need to be ‘Doctors’ who address the anemic problem of ‘sick’ Christianity. We need Christ’s blood to run through our eternal bodies, and make us living, strong, vibrant, mature Christians.

This is not a time for weakness. We need God’s strength and righteousness and truth. We need God’s Holy Spirit to dwell in us in all fullness, with all the knowledge, wisdom, and understanding He can give. We need His comfort and help!

We need to be ‘soldiers’ in the Lord’s army, willing to fight the good fight, even unto death. We have the promise of eternal life with Christ. Our battle is not against flesh and blood, but against wickedness in high places!

For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Ephesians 6:12

Let us be strong and courageous Christians! Live a vibrant life for Christ!

Dear God, many professing Christians are living an anemic, weak faith. We need Your strength and help. Send workers for the harvest! Make us Your ambassadors. Fill us with Your knowledge, Your Holy Spirit, Your power! Make us alive and vibrant Christians. The body is weak, but the Spirit is willing! Oh God, It grieves me to see the sinfulness and sickness of our this country that was once a shining light for You. Heal this nation and people. In the Powerful Name of Jesus, and keep me from being deceived. Amen.
