Broken Sea Glass:

Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.

But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.

I am back from a trip to the Pacific Coast, and from my son’s aviation camp.

It was an extraordinary time of reflection, fun, and new experiences.

I was able to walk the beach, enjoy sunsets, take my dog for walks, and look for treasures from the sea, among other things.

I wasn’t aware of ‘sea glass’, before this trip. Sea glass is broken shards of glass that are tossed and turned by the sea. They look ‘frosted’ and their edges are smooth. Their color is usually brought out by the constant abrasion of the sand, sun, and churning of the glass. Cobalt blues, emerald greens, soft whites, browns, and many other colors can be found. Some glass is from rare, old objects, and can be very valuable.

Crafty people make beautiful objects with this glass. Mosaics, mirrors, lights, and concrete are decorated with it.

How can brokenness be so beautiful?

At Communion, broken bread is eaten, in remembrance of the broken body of Jesus. He was ‘broken’ for us. He took our punishment, our sins, our iniquity, and His brokenness brought about something beautiful! — Our salvation and redemption.

Some of us are broken, and it is hard to see the beauty of God’s handiwork in this world. It is very possible that your brokenness is bringing about something very beautiful, and is being used for a greater purpose than you can imagine right now.

Maybe the colors of your tapestry include dark threads of a hard life. Those dark colors are needed, as well as the colorful ones, to bring about the beautiful life that God has planned. Darkness exposes the highlights in a picture. God is a great designer, creator, and builder, and can change brokenness into something beautiful!

Dear God, I thank You that You showed me that brokenness can be beautiful. Many people are broken and wounded, today, and You can sympathize with them, because Jesus was broken, wounded, and bruised too. You raised Jesus from the dead, and He is King of Kings and Lord of Lords. He didn’t stay broken. He was resurrected, changed, and made immortal. Even the ugliness of death is made beautiful with Your promise that we will be raised up with Christ. Thank You for hope, comfort, and peace. Thank You for everything. Amen. In the Name of Jesus.

Great is God’s Faithfulness:


Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. Lamentations:3:22,23

I have been busy working. I have rushed through some of my posts lately, and made grammatical errors, but hopefully the message is clear. I will catch up on reading posts this week. I enjoy reading so many blogs. I love the pictures, stories, and news that many people share. I am so thankful for so many Christian bloggers, and people who share their beautiful photography, poems, and more! Thank you!

After work yesterday, I took my dogs for a walk, and enjoyed the evening, and seeing the sun set over the mountains. I found a couple morel mushrooms. They were by a creek, where I have seen moose frequently.

I am so amazed at God’s creation. There are wonders to find everywhere!

God shares all these things with us, the sunny days, the rainy days, the treasures of the coastal areas; the seashells, fish, and salty air. Treasures of the mountains; pine trees and smells, mushrooms, gems, wildflowers, and scenery. Treasures of the plains; fields of grains, sunflowers, rich soil, sunsets and rises that are visible for miles.

It is so easy to take for granted that we breathe God’s air that is designed specifically for us, made up of just the right gases. Plants and trees give back to the atmosphere the oxygen we need.

We have water supplies from streams, waterfalls, lakes, rivers, and oceans. Lightning gives nitrogen to the soil in the spring and fall, giving nutrients to the soil.

God doesn’t need us, we need Him.

His mercies are new every morning. He doesn’t consume us. Instead, He continually cares for us.

Some people have become so wise and arrogant in their own eyes, that they have forgotten that they revel in God’s gifts every day.

Enjoy God’s blessings and mercies, and thank HIm today, for all the wondrous things He has done.

Thank You, God, for Your great mercy, love, and forgiveness. Thank You for making this amazing creation of earth, and all that is in it, and the firmament, and light, the sun, stars, moon, and planets. You made all things to work together, and made a sustaining creation. Help us to see Your beauty daily. In the name of Jesus, Your Son, Amen.


Taking Pleasure in the Works of God:

I was invited to a field trip online by a group called Foundations in Genesis. http://www.figionline.com/

They are planning at the end of March to view the Hells Canyon area of Idaho, and will explain about the geological features in a way the glorifies God, the Creator of the Universe.

The verse that was on the flier for this field trip was Psalms 111:2

The works of the LORD are great, sought out of all them that have pleasure therein. (KJV)

In the NIV version, it reads this way:

Great are the works of the Lord;
    they are pondered by all who delight in them.

I have taken so many pictures of nature.

I love the oceans, the mountains, the valleys, and prairies.

I have gone to the zoo, where I’ve seen such unique animals. Things like rhino’s, bison, big lizards, iguanas, kamodo dragons, antelope, kangaroos, and more. Each animal is so unique with characteristic features all their own.

Think of the variety of fish. There are whales, dolphins, small colorful tropical fish, sharks, and more.

There are so many different kinds of birds, each with a song of their own.

Flowers,– look at all the different colors and varieties, and trees too.

Then, there are the different kinds of crops. Each with different tastes, colors, and textures.

I am amazed at God’s creation.

I have not even tapped the surface of what He has created. There is a world that is tiny and minute, with organisms that are too small to see with our eyes.

There are great towering species of trees, like the redwoods and the cedars.

There are fruit trees that have magnificent tasty fruits in their own seasons. Peaches, apples, oranges, cherries, and more.

It gives me such pleasure to see, taste, smell, touch, and hear the wonders that God has made. I give Him all the glory!

I am a terrible gardener. It is close to planting season and I will start my tomatoes. I am lucky to have fifty percent of my garden come up, most years.

I am learning more, and figuring out how to garden better each year.

When I walk in the woods, I see a garden of wild flowers that grow where the seeds fall, and bloom brilliantly. I see the mountain species of animals and they look so healthy. I enjoy seeing the deer, elk, and rabbits when they are brave enough to show themselves when I walk our dogs. God’s creation seems to thrive so effortlessly.

This verse in Psalms 111, makes me so happy because I have a relationship with the God of Creation, the God of the Universe! His creation makes me feel close to Him.

He is preparing my future home, too. I cannot even imagine what He has planned.

I Cor. 2:9  But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.

Oh God, You are so amazing! You have done wondrous things, and made such a variety of plants, trees, animals, fish, and more. I cannot even begin to fathom all your mysteries. There are the far reaches of space, the deep crevices and canyons of the earth and sea, the vast desert regions, and underground caverns that have not even been touched by man. Your world is unique and stamped with your fingerprints. I give You glory and praise and honor. Let Your will be done, always! In Jesus’s Name, Amen.


And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divided the waters from the waters. And God made the firmament and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament and it was so. And God called the firmament Heaven. and the evening and the morning were the second day. Genesis 1:6-9

This second day was as amazing as the first!

In Yesterday’s post, God divided the light from the darkness, and in this post, we see He divides the water above the firmament, from the water under the firmament.

Honestly, I don’t understand it. However, I believe it! He was designing this creation for us, providing us a home. He was the builder and designer of a most wonderful place!

It is important to see that God has an enormous ability to create. He can divide bone from marrow, light from darkness, and create a planet with all the extras!

God must have taken joy in naming the beautiful blue sky-“Heaven’.

He named the first morning and evening, and called it-‘Day’.

He give us new names, as in the case of Jacob to Israel, Abram to Abraham, and Saul to Paul.

Did you know He will give each of us who overcome, a new name?  Revelation 2:17: He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the hidden manna, and will give him a white stone, and in the stone a new name written, which no man knoweth saving he that receiveth it.

Genesis contains the information we need to see that there is a God, and that there is life beyond our galaxy. God was so wonderful to share with us, in Genesis, how He designed and created the earth. We see how great, mighty, wise, and beautiful God is through His creation. He planned this world in an organized fashion, and blessed us with all His goodness.

Thank You, God! You created a wonderful place for us to live. You gave us bountiful food, the beauty of nature, the feelings of love and goodness, the gift of life. You are to be greatly praised and blessed! Thank You!!!
