Preparation:

Preach the Word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage — with great patience and careful instruction. 2 Timothy 4:2

Preparation, according to the Merriam-Webster dictionary, is the action or process of making something ready for use or service or of getting ready for some occasion, test, or duty.

We prepare for all kinds of things, like–Thanksgiving.

It was late last night that I bought the turkey. It was early this morning that I put the turkey in the oven, and I prepared the other things that would go with it as the bird was cooking: the cranberry sauce, the stuffing, potatoes, and more.

Everyone enjoyed the final meal, and it only took minutes of eating, but the preparation time was hours long.

Have you noticed that when you take time to work out all the details and plan for a big event, the final product goes over pretty well? (Not always, but usually.)

We read in this verse, that we need to be prepared for that time when we will need the words to correct, rebuke, and encourage — with great patience and careful instruction those who need to hear the Word preached.

I need to work on that kind of preparation more diligently.

Happy Thanksgiving! May the Lord bless and encourage each one of you! I pray for God’s glory to shine in your lives, and help you through each new day! I am so grateful for salvation, so thankful that Jesus was willing to come to this earth, and take upon Himself the sins of the whole world! I am so grateful that God raised Him from the dead! I am so encouraged and hopeful, because Jesus is at the right hand of God, interceding on my behalf! I am Thankful for so many of God’s wondrous, abundant blessings!
